At Queen de mi Corazón we praise, celebrate, and love Chingonas every day, but once in a while, we like to shine a brighter spotlight on Latinas, absolutely rocking it. We want to share their awesomeness with you.
Meet Karla Melgarejo; is a social media marketing strategist, and advocate for Latina makers and
entrepreneurs across the U.S. Born and raised in La Paz, Bolivia.
Karla is currently based in Seattle and has worked with over 1,000 women from all over the world helping them scale through lead generator content on Instagram that turns passive viewers into actual clients/customers. She's founded 3 different companies before turning 30 and launched the first digital magazine in Bolivia back in 2013.
Karla is also Sr. Social Media Strategist for School of Motion where she's helping grow one of the biggest communities of motion designers in the world.
We had the opportunity to talk with her recently and asked her a couple of real questions to get to know her a little better
Where are you from?
Born and raised inLa Paz, Bolivia but moved to the USA in 2013 and currently living in Seattle, WA.
What's your favorite holiday?
Christmas! My mom has always made Christmas so special for us, from baking cookies to putting up the tree altogether to then baking cookies, making sandwiches, taking all the toys and clothes we no longer used or didn't play with much, and hosting a huge Christmas breakfast for all the homeless families on Christmas Day to give back to those who needed more than we ever did. For me, that will always be such a huge life lesson and Christmas has such a different meaning to me because of that.
What's your go-to emoji? 🙌
To someone who has never been to your hometown/home country, what place would you recommend they visit for the first time?
El Salar de Uyuni, it's a salt flat (desert) that when it rains the sky gets reflected on the ground and it literally looks and feels like you're walking on clouds!

What is something you do to practice self-care?
I guess this isn't the answer everyone gives and I wish I could say bubble baths and facemasks (I need all those!) but for me, it's giving myself 1hr of "quiet time." I call it this because being a mom, wife, working I feel like I don't get enough time for myself without someone asking for me...so this quiet time is a time I disconnect from everything and no one can reach me during that hour, I get to do what I want, watch TV, nap, read a book, whatever I want without interruption!
What is one piece of advice you would like to give to young Karla?
I love this question! I would tell her that, that shy, introverted girl will come out of her shell one day and show the world she is capable, she can do it, she can own her space and her voice regardless of what everyone thinks and says about her.
OMG! Karla, you are such a talented and energizing human! Thank you so much for taking the time to participate with us, for all the work you are doing helping lift up, inspire, and grow entrepreneurs' confidence and business.
We look forward to continuing to see so much more of the fantastic things you are bringing to this world. May your smile and your perseverance continue lighting up sparks in those you inspire.
